Whitesnake Here I Go Again Jaguars Location
It's off-white to say here we go again when information technology comes to Whitesnake's video for the new rails "Close Upward & Buss Me," premiering exclusively below.
Frontman and group leader David Coverdale, even at 67, cuts a spry and dapper effigy as he drives the same white Jaguar that Tawny Kitaen memorably performed splits over in the 1987 "Here I Go Once more" video. The new clip, directed by Tyler Bourns, shows Coverdale arriving at Order Snake in Lake Tahoe, where he resides, while fans outside gush over the iconic vehicle before the band's performance.
"This is much more of a lite-Serpent kind of video, in that it'south fun stuff" Coverdale tells Billboard. "We'd releases a very dark, intense video for the song 'Burn' fromThe Purple Album (in 2015). This has the same sense of fun we had back in the halcyon MTV days. The people who are coming to the gild and run across (the automobile) are going, 'Omigod! That's the Whitesnake Jag!' and having their pictures and stuff taken with it. It's just a lot of fun."
That's the same spirit Coverdale and company applied to making its new album,Mankind & Claret, which comes out May 10. Produced past guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra and executive produced by Coverdale, the 13-vocal set is Whitesnake's first of new material since 2011 and comes about while Coverdale was recovering from double knee replacement surgery during 2017. "I've never had and then many challenges in my life in terms of distractions and the hurting, of class," Coverdale notes, "but Joel and Reb assured me that I was conscious most of the time — I must've been. We have an anthology. We felt like we owed it the fans, and when Frontiers came to me and said, 'Do you desire to exercise another studio album?' I thought, 'Well, first off, I have to sit down down with Reb and sit with Joel.' We'd jammed together and played together, but nosotros'd never written together. And inside minutes it was obvious I could make the commitment, and I'm thrilled with what we've achieved together."
The riff-heavyMankind & Blood includes one track, "Gonna Be Alright," built from a riff written for what was supposed to be a second Coverdale-Page album with Jimmy Folio that never transpired. "Information technology'southward been sitting gathering grit for 20-odd years 'til destiny proved (Hoekstra) was the one to finish it off for me," Coverdale notes. ButFlesh & Bloodencountered problems when last year when Coverdale'south home studio crashed, forcing a delay in the album's release.
"We had, like, 85 percentage of the mix washed and the entire studio just f***in' crashed," Coverdale recalls. "We didn't even know for almost two months if we'd saved whatsoever was there or if nosotros would have to go back and re-do everything. Fortunately, information technology was all in that location one time we got back upward and running once more."
After touring terminal twelvemonth with Foreigner — "To go out and encounter if my knees worked," Coverdale says — the group volition be returning to the road in earnest this year to promote Flesh & Blood. A North American bout begins Apr 12 in Newkirk, Okla., with dates into May before heading to Europe for festivals and headlining dates.
"I've been kind of trying to retire more times than Sinatra, and it only doesn't seem to work," Coverdale says. "This is going to be a necessary injection in all of united states, inspiring, to do these new songs — as long as they're accompanying 'Still of the Night,' 'Is This Love' and 'Here I Get Again,' of course, and they fit in beautifully. I can't purchase the excitement level we have right now; We have a group thread going on text and everybody's merely chewing at the bit to get on with information technology and start playing these songs for people. It just feels very fresh and very heady and full of energy."
